S1E3.5 Friendship is Hard

Scene 1: Chip & Chad

• Chip approaches Chad. Chad's been working hard with training!

• He's returning a manga! He didn't expect the mecha to show up… they end up talking about the plot indepth.

• Chad's room hasn't changed much since he moved in. The original furniture is still there and stuff. He's bought some books, though, and a gaming chair and a ton of monitors

• Chip notes that it's barebones, just like his

• You can tell a lot about a person, says Chip, and then was invited to cold read him

• You've got a lot of hangups about your brother which is the gimme. He doesn't entirely know what to do to fit in.

• Chad: Well I'm a little bit older but you guys are more experienced… weird dynamic

• Darla's going for the alpha bitch thing

• Chad actually has a decent read on Darla… he guesses that she's compensating for not having any power. waow

• Chip's joking. He jokes darkly a lot. But he continues to pry into Chad's media literacy

• CHAD TOUCHED GRASS

• Chip admits that he's not really into books. When pressed on his hobbies, he said he's a bit of an eclectic. He just does what interests him until he's bored and moves on

• But don't you ever miss it? Chad struggles to understand completely moving on from things you love

• But he has been teaching CL30 about jokes! :D

• We're all different from what Chad expected. Chip says you have to look out for people who want to be other people.

• Okay but what about fashion trends and stuff?

• Ask Darla lol

• He just thinks it's normal to want to fit in, but maybe you don't.

• Chip: Maybe I'm bad at being normal lol

• Chip: What were you going to do if you didn't gel with us as teammates?

• Chad: Well then I'd make it work. Compromise harder

• Chip thinks it's a kind of wisdom. "Just do it" is sometimes the answer…

• Chad's like, but wait, if you don't care what anyone thinks why did you read the book just for me

• Chip: Well of course. I'm going to make this team work

• Common goal :)

• Chip's a light novel kinda guy

• Chad does not buy the assertion that Chip is boring :/

• Chip: Well, I haven't gotten bored of playing with you yet. You and one other person. Who? It's a secret ;)

• As Chip goes, Chad pulls a book off the shelf. It's THE BUNNYGIRL THING LMAOOOOO-

• Chad: IT'S ACTUALLY REALLY IMPORTANT TO HER CHARACTER THAT SHE'S-

Scene 2: Darla & Weezer & Spellweaver

• Library. Darla's there and Spellweaver is there and Weezer comes in

• Awkward introductions

• He was looking for Spellweaver! He was reading a book

• He's been researching the artifact fruitlessly for three weeks. Missed D&D :(

• Spellweaver: Umm you should probably put that down. It's making you insane. It makes dreams real. Logic doesn't work

• He doesn't want to give it up but Darla takes it. He seems clearer but still annoyed

• Spellweaver: Oh you saw THAT place (eye emoji). The End

• Darla: what

• Weexer is like WHY ARE THESE CONNECTED. Spellweaver is like oooh why would they be connected :)

• Maybe people dream of the end of the world…?

• Darla: wtf is that

• The End! or Everything

• Spellweaver: so how did you and Dr. Buzz meet :)

• Dr. Buzz appears. He is stealing tea

• They're not the same guy! Everyone thinks that.

• He wants to know why the End is in the artifact. >:( For realzies. And so he will explain how him and Weezer came to work together

• On April 11th last year, there was an Expo. All the big companies held a science expo at a University. One that dealt with Sciences and choices. ok

• Whether things could or could not exist. Manifesting?? Conjuring?

• They called it science, but they were - stealing? VatsCo had some demonstrations on quantum mechanics. AU business. Conjuring stuff from quantum flux

• So that went wrong.

• Steve Moon working towards his freshman chemical degree

• He was trying to cure his asthma, so he went to the expo.

• (Darla's like bro shuld I call you Steve)

• Spellweaver wonders aloud how long Biohazard has been around. Hm, about a year!

• HMMM

• Anyway

• Steve took the device and fired it and Dr. Buzz happened

• Dr. Buzz is ambiguous on whether or not he's actually part of Weezer.

• Spellweaver talk. Darla doesn't hate him anymore UGGGHHH he's frogboiling her. Dr. Buzz still doesn't trust him

• Spellweaver: oh right the plot! Anyway my magic can conjure up a mindscape. What do you think happens to the mindscape when a person dies?

• So the End can be seen through the artifact because all people die?

• The End was used in Spellweaver's Menty B. Specifcially, because Spellweaver TECHNICALLY ended the world, it exists in his and everyone's mindscapes.

• The artifact COULD let you walk freely between the End and here. Dr. Buzz might have an affinity for it

• Dr. Buzz: Okay!

• Dr. Buzz: Let's destroy it

• Darla's like NO dude we're superheroes that might hurt Spellweaver or kill him dude

• Drake. Where's Spellweaver

• Spellweaver offscreen: omg Chip hi. How long do you think you'll be able to feign interest in Chad's hobbies

• Dr. Buzz disappears after going FINE but there'll be consequencesssss

• Weezer is scared. Does Darla think it'll be okay?

• She doesn't. But she's trying to make a team anyway. So, he won't be alone when it goes to shit.

• They shake on it. Some kind of magic spark happens… WTF was that?? Some magic bullshit??

• Anyway they're starting fresh now. Starting with getting Weezer out of that lab to play D&D

Scene 3: Paula & Chip###

• Paula is looking for Chip!

• Darla put you up to this again? Nuh-uh. Okay she is lol

• Paula is getting frustrated. Chip thinks that's very telling!

• Not only is this something Darla put you up to, it's something you don't want to do.

• No, she wants to do it correctly. >:(

• Various banterisms. Chat they are not getting along

• LOOK she's sorry about the room thing. She was being a dick

• So that's what this is about. Well if that's it you can go now

• Paula:

• Slowly stands up, nods, walks away

• Chip: Hmmmm.

• Waits until she's gone. Slow exhale. Crunches the exhale in his hand.

• (Seems like they ended up making no real progress…)

Scene 4:

• Darla and Weezer are making D&D characters and Paula walks in!

• Telling them about the attempted apology.

• That sounds like it went poorly! Various advices about it from Darla and Steven.

• Steven likes talking to Chip because he's fun to talk to! They have a lot in common! :)

• Talk about how to handle it going forward. Nothing to do but be nice…

• They start talking about organizing a D&D campaign to foster teamwork. And also to play D&D.

• Weezer goes over to Chip's room to ask if he wants to play! The girls follow, to eavesdrop.

• He's got ice cream. The only thing he's eaten today is a snack…

• He slept in past breakfast… and he didn't have lunch. Whoops

• He just has ice cream whenever he has a bad day! Do you want to talk about it?

• Steven: Do you want to play some D&D?

• Uhhhhhhh suuuure?

• Paula was thinking about running D&D and - (ramble). Weezer would like to share this with his friend :)

• Chip relates a fun prison anecdote about hearing people play stuff!

• Anyway. why are you nervous Weezer

• Ummmmmmmm I know you were fighting with Paula and and and

• Weezer. Buddy.

• Um. It's steve

• Chip adjusting to this: oh okay uh. huh. Anyway time to lie about being nearsighted for fun

• Hmmm sure okay. I would love to come along. And learn how to play Dungeons and Dragons Fifth Edition! For you I would play MAID RPG!

• In the vent: (Psychic damage, Darla clamping a hand over Paula's mouth)

• Oh god they're actually going to do it. Oh god

• They catch up with Paula and Darla who are trying to get back to the library and Chip's like awesome! Glad I caught you. So Maid RPG -

• Darla's like UUUUGGH FINEEEE I'll play the stupid game

• Paula refuses to run it (ragebaited) and Chip calls Spellweaver to run :)

• Spellweaver LOVES this game! :D

• Steven: Wow we're gonna play together :)

• Paula: NO I'M NOT PLAYING THIS. YOU'RE DOING THIS TO SPITE ME MAN

• Chip: What. Come on

• Spellweaver: Are we not playing Maid RPG D:

• Paula pulls Chip aside and accuses him of doing it entirely out of spite. Chip maintains that he's not doing it out of spite. He was invited to something nice and he accepted.

• Paula doesn't believe him. His tone of voice is always smarmy and it makes it sound like he's always putting airs on.

• Chip: Not everything I do is designed to piss you off. I'm sincere

• Paula: So is this one of those times I should assume you're lying or

• Chip, flatly: Fine. If you don't like my voice then I just won't bother you at your table

• WEEZER ENTERS. Hey guys! Are you two okay!

• Chip's gonna have to turn him down, sorry. But you seemed so excited. I was excited.

• Weezer: :( Why not, you were so excited

• Steven and Darla switch places, Steven going to deal with Spellweaver infodumping about Maid RPG and Darla going to check on Paula and Chip.

• By the time Darla gets there, Chip is already gone and Paula is distraught. Proper straight up distraught; she says she can't deal with Chip and she's sorry and she was trying to make things easier on Darla and (Continues spiralling)

• Darla, sensing that Chip must be upset if he outright left, tells Paula to take some time to gather herself while she goes to talk to Chip

• She finds him in his room, and he apologizes that teambuilding with Paula is going to be very strained from here on in.

• Darla gets his side of things, and ultimately offers to play a separate game with him and Paula so he doesn't have to miss out.

• Chip is confused, as this doesn't seem necessary as a teamwork exercise!

• Darla reaffirms that they are also friends, (which Chip is like SIGH I guess so) so he's a priority. Deal with it

• She ends up going back to Paula, who is more calm but still in a self-loathing spiral.

• The talk with Paula is like. She's genuinely shredded up about this. She ca't get past her trauma and give Chip a real chance. She's sorry, she's sorry, she's sorry

• Darla isn't thrilled (and is bad at comforting people beside), but she's like. Okay. We'll work with this.

• If you need space, you need space. We'll do the separate games thing and we'll try to keep you apart on missions but you need to talk to someone about this shit because it's genuinely fucking debilitating you

• MEANWHILE AT THE LEGION OF DOOM (the other room)

• Spellweaver is still happy that he gets to run Maid, and Steven is right there with him gushing over the rules.

• Knight is willing to come along to make sure he's not weird about it, and Steven is let know about the games thing as Darla comes back from All That. He's not SUPER happy but like… what are you gonna do… it's nice to be able to play with Chip at least

• Surely this will end well

• END DOWNTIME!
